虽然禁止额外的广告商业功能是之前就已经有的规定,但在最新的文档中更明确地提到这一点,旨在避免玩家体验变差。根据GamingOnLinux的发现,在Steam开发合作伙伴的文档中,明确禁止开发商使用强制观看广告的方式来给玩家提供任何优势、奖励或免去等待等内容。
无论游戏是免费的还是付费的,开发商在上架前必须移除这个功能,并建议使用一次性付费DLC或微交易的方式。之前提到的不支持的广告部分在这次更新中得到了澄清,表明这种商业模式是不可用的。
强制观看广告的商业模式在手机游戏中似乎相当普遍,许多手机游戏在每局结束或者等待时都会提供其他游戏广告,要求玩家观看至少30秒。这其实是一个巨大的流量收益,而Steam禁止这种功能是为了避免平台玩家的体验变差。之前Steam还增加了关于抢先体验游戏的警示,这是在NFT和区块链游戏流行时,以安全和防诈骗的理由而禁止的措施。
