《上古卷轴5:天际》发布前遇到严重的性能问题,运行异常缓慢卡顿。经过调查,发现问题出在一群小蚂蚁身上。开发者为了让游戏世界更加逼真,为数千只小蚂蚁添加了独立的阴影。

然而,这一举措导致引擎不堪重负,游戏帧率大幅下降,因为需要同时计算大量阴影。而且这也非常没有必要,因为蚂蚁小到几乎看不见,其阴影更是“脱裤子放屁”。

开发团队意识到需要对阴影系统进行优化,以减少对性能的影响。最终,他们决定对小蚂蚁们的阴影进行简化处理,不再为每只蚂蚁单独计算阴影,而是采用更高效的方式呈现。
